MND seeks ways to make Singapore more liveable

The Ministry of National Development (MND) is seeking new and innovative research and development (R&D) proposals to boost land capacity and create a more liveable environment in Singapore.

“Over the past decades, despite land constraints, we have worked towards developing Singapore as a liveable and sustainable city. As we strive towards future growth, there will continue to be demand for land for various uses, such as housing and infrastructure, and at the same time, ensuring that Singapore continues to be a vibrant, liveable and resilient city,” said Tay Kim Poh, Deputy Secretary (Development) at MND.

The Sustainable Urban Living R&D workgroup has outlined two areas of focus, namely increase Singapore’s land capacity to sustain long-term growth and develop the country into a vibrant, liveable and resilient city.

Through the Sustainable Urban Living Research & Development (R&D) programme, projects will be funded for up to three years and up to S$2 million per project, under the MND Research Fund.

All universities and polytechnics, local public sector research organisations and Singapore-based companies or companies with operations in Singapore, may submit their proposals until 31 October.

The proposals will be evaluated based on criteria such as application potential, technological/innovation merit, economic impact and relevance in Singapore’s context. The selected proposals will be announced next year.
